About the position
This position is to support the Hospitality Manager in the running of Council's hospitality and events functions based at the Art Gallery Café. The position will assist in preparation of drinks and food, catering, customer service and complete general tasks required in the day-to-day operation of the Café, and assist in training Certificate I & II Hospitality Students.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of short order cafe style menu items, coffee, takeaway food and beverage orders as required, and ensure all food and drinks are presented to a high standard and delivered promptly to customers.
- Provide friendly, efficient service and professional customer service at all times, engaging positively with customers to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere.
- Provide practical instruction and guidance to students in areas such as food preparation, service techniques, hygiene practices, and workplace safety in a supportive learning environment that encourages student development.
- Keep food preparation areas and kitchen equipment and appliances clean, maintaining a high level of food safety standards and hygiene in accordance with council and industry hygiene standards.
- Apply sound work health and safety, food safety, and public health practices in line with WHS and relevant regulatory bodies and ensure they are consistently maintained.
- Work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team and across Council's hospitality outlets to provide support and delivery hospitality services

About you
- Certificate of Food Safety Supervisor or willingness to obtain, and at least 1st years Barista experience.
- Certificate II or III in Food Operations and Barista qualifications (Desirable).
- Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain.
- Drivers License (Desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in working in a hospitality sector.
- Demonstrated experience and/or capability to deliver the Job Specific Key Accountabilities (outlined in the Position Description).
- Demonstrated Fundamental key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).
What we offer
- Temporary full time, 35 hours per week, Term Contract for a period of 3 years
- Salary from $60,120 to $67,546 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
