DASA Support Workers are responsible for the high-quality support and delivery of care to residents working to address substance use concerns by undertaking the program at Aranda House Therapeutic Community or the Alternative to Custody Life Skills Camp.

DASA is seeking to recruit a number of Support Workers, with Full Time and Casual positions available. Roles are available at both Aranda House & The Life Skills Camp.

Support Workers are required to work on a rotational roster, which involves 8 and 12-hour shifts including day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts.

We are seeking individuals who have a strong work ethic, respect for diversity, clear professional boundaries and a desire to support our residents to achieve their treatment goals and have improved quality of life.

The Benefits

Base Salary: $65,767 pa (Pro Rata for Casual), + Super + opportunities for additional hours. A higher rate may be offered to candidates with commensurate experience.

7 x weeks Annual Leave

4 x PAID Mental Health Days per year

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Knowledge required to fulfil the requirements of this position:

Qualifications:

  • Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, or willingness to undertake.
  • Relevant industry experience and ability to undertake the range of activities as directed.
  • First Aid Certificate / CPR

Experience/Knowledge/Skills

Essential:

  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to converse with a diverse range of residents and fellow staff in a non-judgmental and culturally appropriate manner.
  • Ability to support residents to engage in the program and work toward their identified treatment goals.
  • Ability to support residents to engage safely and positively in community-based activities.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the TC model and ability to respond to challenging behaviours exhibited by residents in a TC environment, or the willingness to obtain this understanding.
  • Ability to maintain a professional approach in all forms of communication
  • Committed to Occupational Health and Safety and supporting an environment that is one of continuous quality improvement.
  • Functional computer skills.
  • NT Drivers License
  • Working With Children Check
