Where you'll be working

Coral Tree Family Service, Macquarie Hospital

What you'll be doing

Coral Tree Family Service is a tertiary referral service for children experiencing significant difficulties with mental health, behaviour, emotions, and relationships. The service provides family-centred mental health treatment, with the whole family viewed as the unit of care. Coral Tree works in close partnership with parents and carers as the primary agents of change in their child's recovery.

The Clinical School Program (CSP) provides intensive, year-long intervention for primary school aged children experiencing complex mental health difficulties across both home and school settings. Delivered in partnership with Arndell School, a specialist setting for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, the program supports children to build emotional regulation, social skills, and improved family functioning. Children attend Arndell School four days per week and reintegrate into a less intensive school setting one day per week, gradually transitioning back to their home school over the course of the program.

CSP Mental Health Clinicians work closely with the Arndell School and Coral Tree's teams to support the wellbeing and mental health of children. They work directly with students to build social-emotional skills, enhance peer relationships, and support engagement in learning. Clinicians provide in-situ and individualised therapeutic interventions, collaborate closely with families, and liaise with schools and external services to ensure coordinated and consistent care. Working collaboratively with both families and educators, they contribute to a wraparound model of support that strengthens each child's capacity to function at home, at school, and in the community.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Recognised qualifications as a Psychologist, Registered Nurse, or Occupational Therapist with current registration through the relevant Professional Board of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, or eligibility for Membership for Social Workers with the AASW.
  • Post-qualification experience providing mental health interventions to children with emotional, behavioural, or relational difficulties, and delivering therapeutic support to families.
  • Ability to manage clients presenting with challenging behaviours, including emotional dysregulation and aggression.
