Are you an experienced payroll professional seeking a part-time opportunity? Genis Steel, a leading structural steel fabrication company based in Somerton, is seeking a detail-oriented and organised Payroll Officer to join our team.

About the Role:

  • Permanent Part-time position (3 days per week / 22.8 hours)
  • Full responsibility for the fortnightly payroll process

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end fortnightly payroll for up to 130 employees.

  • Maintain accurate employee records in payroll systems (e.g MYOB and Easy clocking)

  • Respond to payroll queries from staff and resolve discrepancies.

  • Ensure compliance with PAYG withholding tax, superannuation, and other statutory obligations.

  • Prepare and lodge Single Touch Payroll (STP) reports with ATO

  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare month-end and year-end reports.

  • Prepare other payroll-related reports as required

  • Work closely with HR and finance teams to streamline payroll processes.

  • Process weekly recruitment agency timesheets to ensure correct invoicing.

What We're Looking For:

Experience: Minimum 3+ years in payroll processing, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or a related industry.

Systems: Proficiency in payroll software (MYOB, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax, and superannuation.

Attention to Detail: High accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with employees and management.
