Group Accountant / Payroll Officer – Quarry & Recycling Operations
Full-time | Above Award Rates | Gold Coast or Townsville
Location: Preferably Oxenford (Gold Coast) – Townsville option for the right person
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm (40 hours per week)
Travel: Some travel to Townsville required
About Us
JGI is a growing quarry and recycling group operating three entities — Oxenford and Townsville Quarries, and our Transport division. We produce high-quality quarry products, provide recycling solutions for construction materials, and pride ourselves on operational excellence, environmental compliance, and strong community relationships.
As our operations expand, we're seeking an energetic and adaptable Group Accountant / Payroll Officer who wants to grow with us.
About the Role
You'll be responsible for managing the financial administration of all three entities, with a focus on:
- Payroll management – processing wages for multiple sites and divisions
- Accounts payable and receivable – ensuring accurate and timely transactions
- Bank reconciliations and reporting – keeping financial records up-to-date
- Liaising with site managers – ensuring smooth financial processes across locations
- Supporting the Group GM – with financial insights and reporting as required
While this role suits a junior accountant, payroll officer or experienced bookkeeper, we offer scope to expand into areas such as:
- Tax compliance
- Financial due diligence for new site opportunities
- Broader financial management as the Group grows
What We're Looking For
- Experience in payroll and AP/AR functions
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to travel to Townsville when required
- Qualifications in accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll (desirable but not essential)
