Our Conservation Programs, Heritage and Regulation team is currently seeking to appoint a Director Investigations and Enforcement to lead the development and delivery of strategic compliance and enforcement frameworks for the Conservation and Heritage Regulator, overseeing investigations and regulatory actions that support biodiversity and heritage protection across NSW.
You'll manage high-profile and often sensitive cases, working closely with legal teams, government agencies, and other regulators to ensure outcomes are ethical, effective, and in the public interest. The role sits within a collaborative executive team and involves shaping new approaches to regulatory risk, performance, and transparency. You'll be part of a newly established regulator with a strong focus on collaboration, integrity, and building a positive team culture that supports professional growth and shared purpose.
About You
You have a strong background in regulation, investigations, or enforcement, and you're confident navigating complex legislation and high-stakes decision-making. You've led teams through sensitive investigations, worked closely with legal professionals, and understand how to manage risk while delivering outcomes that stand up to scrutiny. You're experienced in developing frameworks and processes that support ethical enforcement and transparent decision-making, and you know how to balance legal, policy, and community expectations to achieve tangible outcomes.
You're a clear communicator and a steady leader, able to guide your team through challenging situations with integrity and purpose. You build trust through collaboration, and you're comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, legal counsel, and other regulators. You're organised, thoughtful, and focused on delivering practical solutions that improve compliance and protect NSW's environment and heritage. You take pride in leading work that makes a real difference and contributes to biodiversity and heritage outcomes across NSW.
