As an Academic Specialist at the Metabolomics Australia facility, you'll play a crucial role in developing advanced mass spectrometry-based metabolomic capabilities. You'll provide expert services and training to researchers from academia, industry, and government across Australia. This role offers you the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research, develop new methodologies, and work with state-of-the-art instrumentation in a collaborative team environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and Apply Advanced Metabolomics Techniques: Contribute to the development of new metabolomics capabilities and methodologies, applying them to support diverse research projects.
  • Provide Expert Services and Training: Offer metabolomics expertise and services to a wide range of researchers, delivering training and mentoring on complex metabolomics concepts.
  • Maintain Advanced Instrumentation: Contribute to the maintenance and optimization of various mass spectrometry instruments, ensuring optimal performance for research activities.
  • Engage in Collaborative Research: Support internationally competitive research, contribute to publications in high-impact journals, and participate in grant proposals and research dissemination activities.

You may be a great fit if:

You have a PHD (or near completion) or equivalent experience in analytical Chemistry, biological mass spectrometry, or a related discipline. You are a highly motivated individual, capable of developing and applying advanced metabolomics techniques while providing expert services and training to diverse researchers.

You may also:

  • Demonstrate a track record of publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Show the ability to establish and maintain effective client relationships.
  • Be a flexible team player, capable of adapting to changing priorities in a collaborative environment.
