As Executive Officer (Human Research Safeguards), you'll lead a small team administering human ethics applications and provide expert advice on policy, governance, and regulatory matters. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and compliant committee operations, developing key stakeholder relationships, and contributing to the Ethics Shared Service's extended leadership team. This position offers you the opportunity to shape ethical research practices across the university while fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include:
Lead Human Ethics Administration: Manage a team to deliver robust processes for greater than low-risk human ethics applications and submissions.
Provide Expert Advice: Offer high-quality guidance on policy, governance, and regulatory compliance to researchers and Human Research Ethics Committees.
Develop and Coach Team Members: Manage performance, promote service excellence, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Build Key Relationships: Operate as a trusted advisor to senior management and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the university.

You are an experienced leader with strong policy interpretation skills, excellent relationship management abilities, and a commitment to fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement in a complex university or research environment.
You may also:
Have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or extensive relevant experience.
Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex issues.
Demonstrate outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
Have strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to HREC operations.
Be able to manage competing priorities while ensuring best practice service delivery.
Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check.
