Homeless Healthcare is a dynamic, not for profit organisation providing healthcare to people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. The organisation runs mobile GP clinics in various settings across Perth including drop-in centres, crisis and transitional accommodation services, residential rehabilitation and women's refuges. They also run a nurse led street outreach, and a RPH hospital in-reach program as well as a Medical Respite Centre.
Woodville House is a newly designed Consortium led residential facility created to provide people experiencing chronic homelessness with access to safe, transitional accommodation with wrap-around psychosocial and health supports. The program is a staffed by a multi-disciplinary team that works holistically with residents who come from various backgrounds and typically have experienced multiple and complex factors such as drug and alcohol use, family and community violence, mental health issues, disadvantage and poverty.
The Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Worker will support residents experiencing substance use challenges to reduce harm and achieve recovery goals, through education, counselling and other therapeutic interventions.
About the role
Full time and part-time applicants encouraged. The role will be staffed Monday-Sunday in daytime hours.
We are looking for a dedicated professional with a passion for working with marginalised communities. You will have a strong understanding of AOD and related issues and proven expertise in delivering comprehensive assessments, referrals, and interventions to people seeking support. The role also involves:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments to understand the client's substance use
- Develop and implement individualised support plans in partnership with residents
- Contribute to ongoing case management planning
- Offer evidence-based counselling interventions and harm reduction strategies
- Support residents to develop coping strategies to manage triggers and cravings
- Promote safe drinking and drug use practices tailored to the client's goals
- Work closely with Woodville House team to address broader issues related to substance use (e.g. legal, medical, social services)
- Assist in immediate support during substance use crisis
The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients who present with complex and co-occurring needs, as well as a track record of working with other service providers to achieve positive outcomes.

Pay will be in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 or Nurses Award 2020 where appropriate.
The successful candidate will require:
- Extensive experience in working with consumers experiencing alcohol and other drug use issues.
- A Certificate IV in alcohol and other drugs or similar training and equivalent experience in the AOD sector.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment, harm minimisation, care coordination and support strategies.
- Experience working with people living with mental illness.
- Knowledge of services and community resources relevant to the homelessness, AOD and mental health sector.
- Well-developed time and self-management skills; ability to work with limited supervision.
- Ability to build and maintain effective multidisciplinary working relationships
The successful candidate must possess a National Police Clearance that was obtained within 3 months or be willing to obtain one.
