About us
Looking to join a company that puts people first, values your career growth, and understands the importance of work-life balance? Welcome to Sigma Aerospace — where your aviation journey can truly take off.
For over 15 years, Sigma Aerospace has led the way in managed aircraft maintenance, proudly supporting Australia's aviation industry with award-winning talent, a supportive culture, and a reputation for excellence. As a trusted name in maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), we don't just connect engineers to jobs — we help them build meaningful, long-term careers.
At Sigma, we're driven by a genuine passion for aviation and grounded in values of integrity, quality, and innovation. Whether you're just stepping off the tools or looking to expand your skillset, you'll find a place here to thrive, grow, and make a real impact.
So, why settle for a recruitment agency — when you can join an industry leader committed to your success?
Who are we looking for?
Are you an experienced LAME or AME ready to step off the tools and into a high-impact, operations-focused role? Join an established Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) supporting a Dash 8 Q400 and A220 fleet, where your expertise drives safe, efficient aircraft operations.
In this role, you'll act as the central contact for defect management and real-time technical response, including coordination of AOG recoveries, communication with tech crews and maintenance providers, and input on operational decisions. You'll oversee defect rectification and help protect on-time performance (OTP) through close collaboration with flight ops and maintenance control.
This is a full-time permanent role, working 4-on/4-off 12-hour shifts, based in Sydney. Must have full working rights in Australia; open to local applicants or those willing to relocate at their own expense.
Your Role
In this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Act as the central point of contact for all reportable aircraft defects, ensuring clear and timely communication across operational teams.
- Oversee defect management and rectification efforts, coordinating with internal stakeholders, external maintenance providers, and OEMs to optimise operational outcomes and minimise disruption.
- Monitor real-time aircraft health using AHM and ChronicX systems; recommend preventative actions to support on-time performance (OTP).
- Support and coordinate engineering recovery plans for AOGs, including in non-manned ports.
- Provide accurate rectification timelines to relevant teams, including advice on aircraft swaps to minimise delay impact.
- Attend technical and operational meetings, contribute defect data and analysis, and maintain accurate event logs for operational visibility.
- Review and approve part robberies, deferred defects, and rectification actions in accordance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Promote continuous improvement through procedural reviews, data-driven recommendations, and process optimisation.
- Support a safe working environment by upholding safety standards and regulatory compliance at all times.
- Work collaboratively within a rotating shift team and contribute to a high-performance, safety-focused culture.
The Essential Requirements
- CASA Part 66 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) or an AME with completed LAME training.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in an aviation engineering or technical role.
- Proven experience managing or supporting real-time operations, AOG, or CAMO/MOC activities.
- Experience with Dash 8 Q400 or A220 aircraft (highly regarded).
- Strong technical decision-making skills with a safety-first mindset.
- High level of written and verbal communication skills, suitable for technical and operational stakeholder environments.
- Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (4-on, 4-off), including day and night shifts.
- Must be Sydney-based or willing to relocate at own cost.
- Fluent English language skills essential.
What's In It for You?
At Sigma, we place our people at the centre of our success. In the Duty Technical Manager role, you'll benefit from a mix of financial rewards and long-term career value, including:

- A permanent, full-time position with stability and growth potential
- The opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in a high-performing CAMO environment
