About the Role

We offer a career of reward and growth, with a current vacancy for a Laboratory Technical Officer in our Environment team to support both the business and the community by ensuring successful adherence to environmental legislation plus continuously improving practices. This is a daywork position, part time 3 days per week for a period of 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate you will carry out environmental monitoring and reporting in accordance with legislative requirements and for risk management purposes. The role has both internal and external stakeholders.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Sampling & monitoring including source emissions, water, ambient air, vegetation & soil
- Carrying out regulatory monitoring in accordance with legislative and procedural requirements
- Provide operational management of the sewage and stormwater systems
- Buffer zone management including fire control, weed, pest and vegetation management
- Operating within a comprehensive environment management system focused on continuous improvement
- Providing analysis on abnormal trends, regulatory limits and assisting with presenting reports and recommendations to management, statutory bodies and community groups
- Technical advice on environmental monitoring equipment and methodology
- Act as community liaison and representation regarding environmental matters
Essential criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in science, environmental science or related discipline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Skills in presenting and reporting information
- Ability to apply practical problem-solving solutions with strong trouble shooting ability
- Sound understanding of legislation and environmental policy
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs
- "C" drivers' licence
