Childcare Assistant Trainee- Erskine Park

About Us- Old MacDonald's Child Care (OMCC) is a purpose-built private service located on a 6.5 acre property in Orchard Hills, near Erskine Park. Our natural surroundings and facilities provide education and care to 131 children aged 6 weeks and 6 years per day. We operate 7.00am-6.00pm, 50 weeks per year.

About the position- OMCC seeks to employ a committed and enthusiastic person as a trainee educator that has a passion for learning and is willing to undertake an 18-month Certificate 3 traineeship in Early Childhood Education and Care Children's Services. CHC30121EC

During this 18-month contract, individuals will obtain on the job training while undertaking a study to complete a Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care, to gain skills, knowledge and experience in working with children 0-6 years.

Trainees will be mentored by a team of experienced educators and guided to actively participate in the curriculum documents that guide children's learning and communicate effectively with families.

To be successful in starting a rewarding career in child care as a trainee, applicants will need to possess:

• An interest in working with children and be 18 years old or older
• Have reading and writing skills that allow you to complete the study and service documentation.
• Time management skills to work full time while undertaking study.
• A can do attitude and an ability to listen and take advice from team members.
• A cooperative nature and a willingness to be a flexible team member.
• A Working with Children Check (WWCC) (A paid WWCC is a requirement to start the position. Applicants can obtain a volunteer check for free.)

Essential Criteria

• Previous experience working with children.
• Ability to identify and provide a safe environment.
• Adequate reading and writing skills to complete service documents to a professional standard.
• Ability to interact effectively with children.
• Be able to show initiative and work within a team.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience within the local community developing professional relationships.

To be eligible for a traineeship; applicants must be 18 years and over and not have completed a Certificate 3 or higher in any field within the last 7 years.

Additional Information

This position has been identified as a child-related position under Child Protection laws in NSW. Applicants need to provide OMCC with a valid copy of the Working with Children Check clearance obtained from Prohibited individuals are not eligible to apply.

Wages and conditions are in accordance with the Modern Award Miscellaneous Award and the Children's Services and the NES.
