We are Skytree
Skytree enables a transition to a world with cleaner Air for everyone. We do this by developing and deploying smart technology that captures atmospheric carbon dioxide, enabling its use or storage to combat climate change and aid society and businesses around the world.
Born out of the European Space Agency (ESA), we are a global team of highly talented scientists, engineers and business professionals, supported by an experienced management team. Our working culture is based on a dynamic and smart approach to business with an open and understanding attitude to others and a desire to expand the boundaries of what is possible.
As we enter a new phase of growth, we are looking for a driven Project Development Manager, APAC to continue on this journey with us.
Your role
You will drive the strategic development and management of complex DAC projects in the APAC region, with particular focus on Australia (predominantly) and Japan. The role entails collaborating with customers, partners, government bodies, and internal team members to formulate effective strategies for large projects, i.e. Efuels, CO2aaB (CO2 as a Business) and CDR projects. This role is responsible for managing project development, establishing long-term relationships with various stakeholders, and driving business development by identifying and driving new project opportunities.
Additionally, the role will lead policy & advocacy initiatives in APAC, with a focus on Australian and Japanese regulations to bring Direct Air Capture at the forefront of the countries' decarbonisation strategy.
The ideal candidate is commercially sharp, can navigate technical topics and strategically thoughtful, capable of building trust-based relationships while navigating technical and policy complexities.
You'll make an impact by
Leading Project Development: Own the end-to-end development of DAC hub projects—from identifying the right commercial opportunities via to final investment decision to deployment working cross-functionally with technical, strategy, and finance teams to ensure successful execution.
Driving Market Strategy: Shape and refine Skytree's go-to-market approach in APAC, aligning our value proposition with local needs, partner ecosystems, and sector-specific opportunities.
Engaging Stakeholders: Build and manage strategic relationships across site hosts, government bodies, investors, and industry partners to unlock and accelerate DAC deployment.
Leveraging Policy & Regulation: Actively monitor and utilize local, state, and federal legislation, grants and incentives to drive project feasibility and competitiveness.
Representing Skytree: Be the face of Skytree in APAC —engaging in thought leadership, policy advocacy, and high-visibility conferences and events.
What we're looking for
5+ years of both business development and account management experience in driving large, multi-stakeholder deals, ideally in climate tech, energy infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
Proven ability to manage complex and long-term projects in dynamic, high-growth and constantly evolving environment
Commercially sharp with a consultative approach: able to engage credibly with senior executives and public sector stakeholders.
Established network in relevant industries such as eSAF, oil & gas, or another relevant industry is a must
Comfortable operating independently, while collaborating cross-functionally with technical and commercial teams.
Strong communicator and natural relationship builder with a passion for climate innovation
Based in Australia (work remotely anywhere in Australia) and willing to travel 30-40% of the time within Australia, APAC and HQ in The Netherlands
What you can expect
Be part of a purpose-driven climate tech company where your work has real-world impact and contributes to the global transition to net zero.
Competitive compensation package (base + OTE) and benefits, reflecting the value you bring to the team.
25 days of annual leave, supporting a healthy balance between work and life.
Initial fixed-term contract with the potential to transition into a permanent role as we expand our presence in the APAC region.
Significant growth opportunity - lead Skytree's APAC market development and help shape commercial opportunities across Australia, Japan, and beyond.
Work remotely from anywhere in Australia. Enjoy the sweet spot of independence and collaboration - work autonomously while being supported by a global team of engineers and commercial minds based across Europe, the US, and Asia.
