We are a department of approximately 50 clinicians with varied skillsets and knowledge working with acute and rehabilitation patients in inpatient, outpatient and community settings.

As you will be part of the hand therapy team within Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) you will also work at Auburn Hospital to be part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) hand clinics.

About the role:
This is a temporary full-time position within our Occupational Therapy department working as a Senior/Level 4 Occupational Therapist within the Hand Therapy team at Westmead Hospital. The Hand Therapy team is multidisciplinary and consists of both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists working cohesively within the service. This position will be responsible for a clinical caseload consisting of treating patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, as well as supervising Level 1/Level 2 Occupational Therapists working within the hand therapy team. The caseload will be primarily trauma with a small component of treatment of chronic conditions. You will also work closely with the surgical and MDT team at outpatient hand clinics based at Auburn Hospital.
We are seeking strong leadership in this space and there are various other roles and responsibilities you will have as a Senior clinician in our department. For example, will be responsible for supporting other outpatient Occupational Therapy services and staff in lymphoedema and scar management.

Essential Criteria:
- Qualification: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW
- Registration: AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
Selection Criteria:
- Significant post graduate clinical experience in hand therapy including a demonstrated high level of clinical skill in the assessment and management of traumatic/complex hand injury and scar management
- Demonstrated experience with the supervision of clinical staff
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills and demonstrated advanced written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in service development, evaluation and management and quality improvement activities
- Demonstrated skill in the analysis of complex issues and conditions, problem solving, formulating new approaches and implementing comprehensive change programs and improvement strategies, including the ability to develop and monitor health outcomes
- Commitment to ongoing education, research and professional development including willingness to undertake further training as required
- Current drivers licence
