We are a department of approximately 50 clinicians with varied skillsets and knowledge working with acute and rehabilitation patients in inpatient, outpatient and community settings. As the Senior Occupational Therapist (Level 3), you will provide advanced, patient-centred care across inpatient and outpatient settings, while leading and shaping the future of lymphoedema services at Westmead Hospital. Key responsibilities will be to:

  • Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based assessments and interventions for patients with lymphoedema.
  • Lead and coordinate Occupational Therapy service delivery, ensuring best-practice care and service innovation.
  • Mentor, supervise and develop junior clinicians, students, and allied health assistants.
  • Drive quality improvement, service development, and research initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and carers to provide education and holistic care.

About the role:

This is a permanent full-time position within our Occupational Therapy department working as a Senior/Level 3 Occupational Therapist in Lymphoedema at Westmead Hospital. This position will be responsible for a clinical caseload consisting of treating lymphoedema patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, as well as supervising Level 1/Level 2 Occupational Therapists working in the lymphoedema clinic.

Strong leadership and service management skills are required for this role to develop/broaden the lymphoedema service's scope of practice at Westmead Hospital. This position will be well supported by senior clinicians and management to ensure optimal patient care, staff satisfaction, and service management.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification: Degree or Diploma recognised by AAOT-NSW
  • Registration: AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist

Selection Criteria:

  • Significant recent post graduate clinical experience in lymphoedema, including completion of Level 1 Lymphoedema course or higher qualification.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical service provision, including quality improvement, research, and service development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated excellent time management and organisational skills. Ability to critically analyse in a time sensitive manner and meet deliverables despite competing demands.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of clinical Occupational Therapy policies, procedures and/or guidelines using evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical leadership and consultation, as well as delivering clinical support, supervision, education, and training to staff, students, and external health professionals within the area of specialty.
