About the Role

As a Senior Speech and Language Pathologist you will lead a speech and language pathology team to provide professional advice and services which support students and families including building the capacity of school communities to improve students' access, participation, and achievement. In a typical week, you'll spend approximately half your time on leadership responsibilities, with the remaining time dedicated to clinical practice.

As part of your role, you will:

  • Lead a team of speech and language pathologists, providing professional advice and clinical services to support students and families.
  • Diagnose and report on communication and swallowing disorders, organise and implement treatment for children from birth right through to end of year 12.
  • Provide leadership on matters such as complex clinical cases, professional learning, recruitment, service allocation and inter-agency liaison.

You will be welcomed into a highly supportive and team-based environment, having regular in person meetings with your team and peers.

About You & Essential Requirements

  • You are an experienced Speech and Language Pathologist who has, or is interested in developing your leadership skills further
  • You are passionate about Children and Young People and enjoy working on a diverse range of clinical needs from communications, swallowing, early intervention or complex communications needs
  • You are eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • You have high level skills of self-direction, initiative and flexibility and have the ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary support team
  • It is desirable that you hold a Driver's Licence
  • You hold or are willing to obtain a Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People

What We're Offering

  • This role is offered at 0.8 FTE, but we are flexible, whether you're looking for fewer or more hours, we'd love to hear what works for you
  • Generous leave entitlements including: 3 Christmas leave stand down days in addition to 20 days of annual leave (pro-rata), paid parental leave and the option to purchase additional leave.
  • 10 days per year (pro-rata) of non-attendance time (during school holidays).
  • $1,000 per annum for professional development expenses and eligibility to apply for paid study leave. Access to a wide range of professional learning opportunities including regular discipline specific and interprofessional conferences.
  • Flexible working arrangements with time for non-clinical duties during work hours.
  • Opportunities to play a role in shaping the future of speech pathology through collaboration with the University of Tasmania and other tertiary institutions.

Conditions of Employment

  • Hours per fortnight: 60.8 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE), options for fewer or more hours are on the table.
  • Salary: $124,861 - $132, % superannuation for a full time equivalent. Salary will be pro-rata accordingly.

    Starting salary may be negotiated commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Award/Agreement: Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Union Wages Agreement
  • Classification: Level 4
  • Location: head office located in Launceston, with travels to various schools across the region.
