Reporting to the Financial Systems & Operations Manager this role will assist the finance team and broader firm to provide detailed and concise reporting that supports client and stakeholder needs while also undertaking continuous improvement initiatives, improving on business rocesses, new strategic business initiatives and organisational priorities.

Responsibilities

Practice Management System

  • Assist the Finance Systems team in the development and delivery of financial solutions; and
  • Provide system-related support to users addressing queries and troubleshooting issues related to the Aderant Expert application.

Reporting

  • Manage the production of multiple monthly and ad hoc client reports to ensure reporting deadlines are met;
  • Manage, develop and maintain financial reporting solutions (Power BI and SSRS reports or paginated reports) for both desktop and mobile and ensure that the firm's content management methodology follows best practice;
  • Ensure quality control and oversight of reporting outputs;
  • Continually improve on the data model that feeds into the reporting solutions to meet the flexibility, usability, and performance requirements;
  • Develop ad hoc SQL and Excel reporting requests and data extraction;
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure all reporting content is accurate and captured in a timely manner;
  • Assist in the automation and management of existing monthly and ad-hoc client reports to ensure reporting deadlines are met as required;
  • Design, develop, and maintain Power Automate flows to replace legacy client reporting processes; and
  • Develop and maintain dynamic Power BI dashboards tailored to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.

Business analysis/Project Management

  • Liaise with stakeholders to effectively identify, analyse and document project business requirements; work closely with Information Technology stakeholders to ensure the technical components of each project are delivered in a satisfactory and timely manner;
  • Continually aim to improve on business processes using Power Apps, SharePoint or other firm approved workflow and ETL tools;
  • Assist the Finance Systems Lead in developing efficient solutions based on functional business requirements;
  • Undertake system reviews through SQL based data analysis;
  • Perform other tasks, as required by the Financial Systems and Operations Manager and your direct manager;
  • Contribute to additional system-related tasks as outlined in the strategic roadmap;
  • Assist the firm with various financial systems projects; and.
  • Provide leave coverage where required;

Requirements

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  • Advanced level of Power BI and Power Apps;
  • Must have experience with developing Microsoft SQL queries;
  • Highly developed attention to detail, analytical and conceptual skills, strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems;
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to interpret financial and non-financial data to effectively add value to client analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise workload;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Demonstrated experience within the professional services or corporate industry with a clear understanding of the day-to-day operations of the business, in particular an understanding of the varying business models, within a large corporate environment. Experience in a commercial law firm an advantage.
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT and/or Finance would be an advantage;
