About the business
Murphy's Lawyers Inc. practises predominantly in criminal law. Since 1972, our firm has appeared in major criminal cases across all jurisdictions, including inquiries, hearings, trials, appeals and commissions.
About the role
The role encompasses the following tasks:
- Assist in preparation of hearings, sentences, trial and appeal matters;
- Prepare court documents and briefs to counsel;
- Attend court with solicitors;
- Office organisation and administration;
- Liaise with clients;
- File court documents;
- Correspond and liaise with counsel, medical practitioners and other experts; and
- Assist solicitors in court matters when required.
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in a law degree;
- Be able to work independently and autonomously as well as part of a team;
- The ability to work efficiently and under pressure is essential;
- Be a fast learner;
- High attention to detail;
- Compassion to clients is essential;
- Strong communication and organisational skills;
- An active interest in criminal law; and
- Available to work two or three days per week
