The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
The Clinical Input team is responsible for providing our regulatory staff with profession-specific clinical input in line with Ahpra's risk-based approach to managing notifications, compliance and registration matters. For this role, we are seeking an advisor in the Dental team.
We currently have a part time (0.3 FTE) fixed term position, with flexible working arrangements and negotiable days/hours. Location is also flexible, working a hybrid arrangement.
About you
You will be able to align the clinical and professional context for Dental and its relevance to the regulatory context. In doing so, you will provide clinical input to our regulatory operations staff on the management of cases, reviewing briefing information sent to external parties, reviewing responses from practitioners, and assisting regulatory staff to understand and interpret clinical material.
You will also review and provide advice on dental notifications, practitioner responses and independent expert reports. You will support notification officers, compliance officers and registration officers to apply clinical context, lead and contribute to performance discussions with practitioners when required, and contribute to Dental Board activities and committees.
As an individual, your ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across a large and complex organisation will be one of the keys to your success. You will embody our values of Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Achievement enabling you to build trust with and influence key stakeholders.
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Qualifications enabling registration as a dentist in Australia
- Unrestricted registration as a dental practitioner
- Extensive experience and recent practice as a dental practitioner
- Demonstrated senior clinical experience, including advanced clinical decision making and oversight of practitioners in a clinical setting
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks while ensuring attention to detail
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and sound computer literacy
- Proven ability to exercise judgment and resolve issues independently
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
