About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Test Manager to lead the testing strategy and quality assurance processes for our HR technology platform. You will oversee the testing of both our web application and mobile app, ensuring reliable, scalable, and high-quality releases in a fast-moving startup environment.

This role is ideal for someone who can combine hands-on testing with leadership, owning the QA function while collaborating closely with developers, product management, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Test Strategy & Planning

• Define, implement, and continually refine the testing strategy for our web and mobile HR application.
• Create and maintain test plans, test scope, and testing schedules across agile release cycles.
• Identify test requirements, priorities, and coverage gaps.

Test Case Creation & Execution

• Write detailed test cases, test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
• Execute manual test cases for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
• Validate new features, enhancements, bug fixes, and cross-platform behaviour.
• Ensure full traceability between requirements and test coverage.

Regression Testing & Quality Control

• Own and manage regression test cycles across web and mobile versions.
• Maintain regression suites and ensure they evolve with the product.
• Report and track defects, ensuring timely resolution and accurate communication.
• Monitor product quality throughout the sprint and release lifecycle.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Manage and guide testers (internal staff or contractors), ensuring clarity of tasks, expectations, and quality standards.
• Promote QA best practices and embed a quality-first mindset across the engineering and product teams.
• Collaborate with developers to align on technical implementations and clarify expected behaviour.
• Work closely with the Product Manager to understand requirements, edge cases, and acceptance criteria.

Agile Delivery & Continuous Improvement

• Participate in agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retros).
• Help refine user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce defects, and improve reliability.
• Contribute to automation roadmap discussions (if applicable), even if the role is primarily manual testing.

Skills & Experience

Required

• 5+ years' experience in software testing, with at least 1–2 years in a QA/Test Lead or Test Manager role.
• Strong experience with web application and mobile application testing (iOS and/or Android).
• Hands-on experience writing and executing detailed test cases.
• Solid understanding of agile development environments.
• Experience managing regression testing cycles.
• Experience in developing and deploying automated testing.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering teams.
• Experience mentoring or managing testers.

Nice to Have

• Background in HR tech, workforce management, HRIS, or SaaS products with complex workflows.
• Experience with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr, Xray, Jira).
• Basic exposure to API testing or test automation concepts.
• Experience in fast-paced startup environments.
