About the role:

We want to hear from you The Hills Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial professional to join our Financial Control team as a Financial Advisor. The position will monitor and maintain budgets, investment portfolios, grant acquittals, various Council registers, complete Statutory returns as well as reconcile financial assets.

What this role looks like:

  • Maintain, monitor and review Hills Community Care budgets and other budgets for Council when required.
  • Manage Council's investment portfolio to ensure funds are invested in a timely manner and in accordance with the Investment Policy.
  • Capitalise expenditure and reconcile financial asset register for plant and office equipment.
  • Manage Council's purchase card transactions and ensures costs are allocated accurately.
  • Maintain, review and update various registers such as investments, grants, leasing, and other corporate financial registers
  • Prepare and finalise Council's Fringe benefit Tax and Goods and Services Tax Returns in a timely manner and ensure they are in accordance with legislation.
  • Assisting the Corporate Accountant with IP&R functions, Annual Statutory Statements and Fees & Charges.

What are we seeking in our new team member:

  • Degree in Business/Accounting or similar
  • Member of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) Australia or Chartered Accountants (CA) Australia
  • Proven experience in a dynamic and fast paced team
  • Experience in NSW Local Government preferred
  • Drivers Licence (Class C) – NSW
  • Extensive Experience (5 to 10 years) in Financial, Management Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Performance Management;
  • High level of organisation, communication, analytical & interpersonal skills, eye for detail & high level of accuracy.
  • A thorough knowledge & understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Regulations, Codes of Accounting Practice, other legislation including inflation and other factors that affect the economy.

Position details:

Competitive rate of pay $117K per annum, pro-rata (excluding superannuation)
