A Federal Government organisation is seeking a motivated and hands-on Desktop Support Officer to join its ICT team supporting national operations. This department plays a vital role in delivering services across climate, energy, environment, and water, and is committed to maintaining high standards in ICT asset management and logistics.

Your new role

This is a 12-month contract with a 12-month extension option, based in Canberra, ACT, requiring NV1 Security Clearance. As a Desktop Support Officer (APS5 equivalent), you will be part of the Machine Operating Environment (MOE) Imaging Support team, responsible for the full lifecycle of ICT hardware assets. Your day-to-day job will include imaging and configuring devices, managing shipments, updating asset records, and supporting remote and regional staff. You'll also collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with government asset policies.

What you'll need to succeed

To thrive in this role, you'll need:
  • Experience imaging and configuring laptops, desktops, and high-spec devices.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow for asset tracking, incident resolution, and workflow updates.
  • Understanding of warranty processes and ability to liaise with vendors like Dell and HP.
  • Knowledge of ICT asset lifecycle management, including SIM card verification, drive wiping, and disposal procedures.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently within a structured framework.
