About The Role
Our NSW team is seeking a
Senior Project Engineer
to lead engineering, planning, quality, and cost control activities for major infrastructure projects. Based in North Sydney (minimum 60% office-based), you will collaborate with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders across SEA and APAC, playing a pivotal role in project success from tender through construction.

This role offers exposure to senior leadership, client engagement, and hands-on coordination across multiple functions. You will mentor junior engineers, oversee complex technical delivery, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within McConnell Dowell's tight-knit and agile team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and construction planning, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and provide overall progress reporting, cost control, and schedule management.
  • Interpret and review engineering documents, oversee temporary works design verification and fabrication control.
  • Participate in subcontractor bid evaluations and contract management activities.
  • Develop and maintain robust quality assurance and inspection practices. Conduct progressive engineering audits and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and site teams to foster professional growth and project delivery excellence.

About You
You are an experienced engineer with proven leadership skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to manage complex projects under pressure. You thrive in collaborative environments and have a strong track record in infrastructure or construction project delivery.

You Will Ideally Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Civil/Structural or related field).
  • Extensive experience in infrastructure or construction environments, preferably with leadership and tendering responsibilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering, scheduling, cost control, and quality management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including client and subcontractor interaction.
  • White Card (mandatory) and Driver's Licence (preferred).
