Our Federal Government Client is seeking a Satellite Communications Engineer.

This is a long-term contract role for 12 months with 2 x 12-month extensions, located at our client's Canberra, ACT office (onsite only)

As the selected candidate, you will:

• Design, implement, and maintain satellite communication systems across client's global Posts.

• Support the Satellite Modernisation Project with a focus on GEO and NGSO technologies.

• Contribute to high-level design activities and technology investigations.

• Assist in the deployment and maintenance of satellite terminals.

• Collaborate with architecture, cyber assurance, and regional technical officers to ensure secure and reliable communications.

• Travel to geographically dispersed client's Posts and remote locations as required for system deployment, maintenance, and support activities. 

To be successful in this role you should have:

• 5+ years' demonstrated experience in satellite communications engineering, including GEO and NGSO systems.

• Strong understanding of RF and microwave communication systems, including design, testing, and optimisation.

• Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing high-availability WAN services, including satellite-based connectivity solutions.

• Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation such as high-level designs and maintenance plans.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

• Willingness and ability to travel regularly for deployments and support activities.

It is desirable if you have:

• Experience supporting government or defence satellite communications projects.

• Ability to mentor or provide technical guidance to junior engineers or field technicians.

Due to security clearance requirements for this role, candidates must be Australian citizens with a current active Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) clearance.
