About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate
Safeworking Project Manager
to join the MCR team. This role combines deep knowledge of
rail safeworking rules and procedures
, ability to conduct audits, assisting with the theoretical and practical training of safeworking to trainees with the leadership and organisational skills required to
deliver business related projects on time, and with a strong safety-first culture
. As a trusted Safeworking Project Manager you will work closely with frontline Protection Officer staff, Client Supervisors, and MCR Management to embed safe work practices and ensure compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements. As a project manager, you will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of business-related projects and tasks, as well as have the ability to learn different facets of the business to assist relevant business sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support rail safety programs, initiatives, and projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Provide
    coaching, mentoring, and guidance
    to Protection Officer staff that is aligned with rail safeworking rules, procedures, and business standards and expectations
  • Drive compliance with
    Rail Safety National Law (RSNL)
    , organisational standards, and applicable Rules, procedures and regulations.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance, identifying trends and implementing improvement strategies.
  • Develop project plans, manage stakeholders, track milestones, and deliver results.
  • Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to embed a proactive safety culture.
  • Act as a change leader, promoting innovation in safety practices and project execution.

About You

  • Proven experience in
    rail safety, safeworking, operations, or compliance
    within the rail industry.
  • Qualified TfNSW Protection Level 4
  • Qualified TfNSW Handsignaller Level 2
  • Qualified TfNSW MEI Electrical Permit Holder
  • Qualified TfNSW Safeworking Level 1 (Traffic Officer) - Desirable
  • Strong track record in
    project management
    , ideally with formal qualifications
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to coach and engage at all levels of the organisation.
  • In-depth knowledge of
    rail safety regulations and risk management
    .
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and outcomes-focused.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.
