NT WorkSafe
is a division of the Attorney-General's Department and is responsible for assisting business and workers understand their obligations under work health and safety, dangerous goods, electrical safety and workers compensation legislation across the Northern Territory.

As the
NT WorkSafe Prosecutor
you are responsible for delivering prosecution services on behalf of the Work Health Authority, Electrical Safety Regulator and delegate of the Competent Authority of Dangerous Goods. You are the primary source for high-quality legal advice and form part of a small, high-performing team responsible for conducting investigations onto breaches of legislation administered by NT WorkSafe.

Your key duties include the carriage and conduct of pleas, committal proceedings and contested summary prosecutions and instruct in Supreme Court trials. You will liaise with judiciary, defence counsel, and other legal representatives in the conduct and management of proceedings, and work closely with investigators to ensure regulatory objectives are met.

In addition, you will collaborate with the WorkSafe Support Officer to support and liaise with victims and witnesses throughout the court process and maintain a legal practice in accordance with the office's practices and procedures.

To be successful
, you require admission as an Australian legal practitioner with eligibility to hold a practicing certificate in the NT, supported by high-level knowledge of and experience in criminal law, practice and procedure. Proven ability in the conduct of contested summary hearings, committals and appeals with the capacity to instruct criminal trials before a jury and negotiate effectively with defence representatives to secure early resolution of matters is essential.
