As a Junior/ Trainee HSE Advisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the implementation and maintenance of robust health, safety, and environmental standards across major construction sites. You’ll work closely with the project team, subcontractors, and clients to foster a culture of safety, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.

The Role:

As a Junior/ Trainee HSE Advisor, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of health, safety, and environmental strategies, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and codes of practice. You will assist and be trained in monitoring safety performance, conducting risk assessments, overseeing safety training, and ensuring all safety incidents and environmental concerns are promptly addressed. Additionally, you will work closely with other team members to ensure that all project activities are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with and be trained in the development, implementation, and maintenance of site-specific Safety Management Plans (SSMP).
- Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to HSE protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Provide advice and support in the development of Project Risk Assessments (PRA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and Hazardous Materials Risk Assessments (RAW).
- Monitor and review risk registers, ensuring all risks are effectively mitigated.
- Report and assist in the investigation of incidents, dangerous occurrences, and near‑misses in line with NT WorkSafe regulations.
- Ensure all workers and subcontractors are trained in safety procedures and maintain up-to-date certifications.
- Assist the Senior HSE Advisors and HSE Manager with the preparation and submission of compliance reports and audits.
- Monitor and review project-specific HSE objectives, targets, and performance indicators.
- Manage and track the progression of HSE incidents and corrective actions.
- Liaise with clients and project teams to address and resolve safety issues promptly.
- Ensure all hazardous chemicals are appropriately stored and that Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are available.
