Be part of shaping Queensland's future As the Government Statistician, you'll lead the Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO) in delivering cutting-edge statistical and demographic services that inform critical public policy decisions and support government priorities.

From population forecasting to crime statistics and land supply monitoring, your work will have a direct impact on Queensland's growth and success. In this role, you will:

  • Provide expert advice and analysis to senior government stakeholders to inform public policy and strategy.
  • Lead the delivery of statistical analysis, official surveys, and data management systems to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Oversee and manage key relationships across government agencies, departments, and jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Commonwealth legislation to uphold data integrity and management standards.
  • Strategically lead and allocate resources to achieve departmental and government objectives.
  • Foster an innovative, collaborative, and high-performing team culture aligned with government priorities.

What experience you will bring:

  • A proven track record of achievement in complex data analysis, economic modelling, and information systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in large, complex organisations, with a focus on collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Strong expertise in strategy, policy implementation, stakeholder engagement, and client-focused service delivery.
  • Proven ability to lead change, build a capable workforce, and foster collaboration in challenging environments.
  • High-level political acumen and the ability to establish and maintain strategic relationships with senior government stakeholders.

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications will be highly regarded.
