  • Provide strategic HSEQ advice to senior management and operational teams, enabling informed decision-making and effective risk management.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's HSEQ management systems to ensure legal compliance and best practice standards.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and drive initiatives that reduce risk, prevent incidents, and improve health, safety, environmental and quality outcomes across all operations.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on HSEQ performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement in line with organisational goals and industry benchmarks.
  • Foster engagement and capability building through training, coaching, and mentoring of staff and contractors in HSEQ practices and responsibilities to achieve outstanding occupational health, safety, environmental and quality performance within the business's operations.
  • Lead and oversee HSEQ systems and compliance across all company and client sites, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements, ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001), and client expectations.
  • Manage a small HSEQ team, providing leadership, mentoring, and performance oversight to ensure consistent and effective delivery of safety initiatives.
  • Champion a strong safety-first culture through behavioural safety programs, toolbox talks, and workforce engagement strategies.
  • Attend operational worksite locations as required (at least once per quarter) across Australia to maintain visibility, support implementation of safety initiatives, and engage with frontline teams.
  • Develop, implement, and continually improve the HSEQ management system, risk controls, and operational procedures to drive proactive and sustainable safety performance.
  • Coordinate and lead incident and hazard investigations using recognised methodologies (e.g. ICAM or TapRooT), ensuring root cause analysis, accurate reporting, and timely close-out of actions.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on HSEQ performance metrics, including KPIs, incident data, and audit results, to identify trends and support continuous improvement.
  • Plan and conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring non-conformances are addressed and corrective actions are tracked to completion.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including clients, contractors, and regulators to align safety practices and achieve shared HSEQ objectives.
  • Provide HSEQ input into strategic planning and project mobilisation activities, including tenders, work packs, and mobilisation plans.
  • Facilitate governance and workforce participation by chairing WHS meetings and supporting Health and Safety Representatives.
  • Promote mental health and wellbeing by managing psychosocial hazards, supporting early intervention, and integrating wellbeing initiatives into operational practices.
  • Stay current with legislative and industry developments through ongoing professional engagement, ensuring the HSEQ function remains compliant and progressive.
  • Oversee the administration of HSEQ systems and documentation, including risk registers, audit schedules, document control, and performance reporting.
  • Manage training and competency systems by maintaining the learning management platform, delivering internal HSEQ training, and verifying crew qualifications.
