We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Assistants in Nursing (AINs) to provide support across our Supported Independent Living (SIL) Accommodation Services, daily living assistance, and community access programs.

As an AIN, you will work collaboratively with participants by providing personalised one-to-one or two-to-one care. You will assist participants in maintaining their health and wellbeing, developing daily living skills, strengthening relationships, and enhancing social connections — empowering them to live safely and confidently in their communities.

About You

  • Able to work on a rotating roster across Brisbane North.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with experience in mental health care and a sound understanding of NDIS requirements.
  • Passionate about supporting individuals to realise their full potential and assisting them in their day-to-day lives.
  • Competent in performing personal care, including assistance with bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming.
  • Skilled in manual handling and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Experienced in supporting participants within Supported Independent Living (SIL) environments, advocating for their choices and independence.
  • Confident providing both in-home and community-based support (e.g. shopping, appointments, recreational activities).
  • Able to support participants with psychosocial disabilities, intellectual disabilities, mental health, and/or physical health needs.
  • Uses a trauma-informed approach, ensuring care is delivered with empathy and respect.
  • Has at least one year of experience managing challenging behaviours and implementing positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Displays honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Can set clear, consistent boundaries and follow organisational policies and procedures.
  • Adaptable to changing environments and participant needs.
  • Empathetic, patient, and detail-oriented.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality support to participants with complex care needs, including ASD Level 3, intellectual disability, and challenging behaviours.
  • Follow individualised behaviour support plans and care protocols.
  • Deliver personal care and clinical support within scope, such as medication prompts, hygiene assistance, and health monitoring.
  • Support participants with daily routines, meal planning, domestic tasks, and community access.
  • Maintain accurate shift notes, incident reports, and progress documentation.
  • Assist participants in attending appointments, social events, and recreational activities.
  • Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all aspects of care.

Essential Criteria

  • Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Experience with manual handling and safe work practices.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and sleepover/active overnight shifts.
  • Ability and willingness to transport participants when required.
  • Experience supporting individuals with psychosocial, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $33.00 – $36.00 per hour
