The role is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, reconciliations, month-end tasks, and assisting with statutory and AFL reporting.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, this role plays a key part in delivering efficient financial processes and contributing to the Club's overall financial sustainability and governance. Key focus areas include:

Financial Operations

  • Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments as part of month-end close.
  • Perform daily and weekly bank reconciliations and follow up outstanding items.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register including additions, disposals, and depreciation journals.
  • Support the Finance Manager in ensuring the accuracy of the ERP (D365 / Adaptive / Office Connect / ExFlow / Zeno).
  • Assist with the transition of AP, AR, banking and other finance processes from the AFL.

Payroll Support

  • Support Payroll Manager with timesheet checks, coding reviews, pay-run validation and reconciliation.
  • Integrate payroll data into the finance system and prepare payroll-related journals (super, PAYG, leave provisions).
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations to ensure accurate employee entitlements and compliance.
  • Maintain tight linkage between payroll and finance to support accurate reporting.

Month-end Reporting

  • Prepare month-end schedules including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and project code set-up.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition (all TFC streams) and associated COGS where relevant.
  • Contribute to monthly management reporting, departmental P&Ls, and Board/FRAC financial packs.
  • Support the preparation of financial analysis and reporting to aid decision-making.

Statutory, Tax & AFL Reporting

  • Prepare supporting documentation for BAS, GST, payroll tax and FBT lodgements.
  • Assist with AFL reporting requirements (CFR, TPP, Soft Cap and related submissions).
  • Support annual audit through preparation of workpapers and response to auditor queries.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory, audit and AFL obligations.

Banking, Treasury & Facilities

  • Process banking transactions, upload payment files and maintain vendor and credit card records.
  • Monitor cash flow, prepare bank reconciliations and support Treasury activities.
  • Assist with major project accounting including approvals, cashflow planning, funding needs and milestone monitoring.
  • Ensure adherence to budgets, delegation frameworks and financial controls.

Systems, Process Improvement & Governance

  • Maintain high-quality financial records aligned to audit, AFL and statutory standards.
  • Enhance finance systems, workflows and automation initiatives.
  • Uphold procurement, delegation and financial governance across the Club.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and improve finance processes.

Critical Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or Finance, with CPA/CA completed or in progress.
  • 3–5 years' experience in an accounting role with strong AP, AR, payroll support and month-end capability.
  • Confident working with Excel and modern accounting/ERP systems (e.g., D365, Adaptive, Workday, ExFlow, Zeno).
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and strong process discipline.
  • Organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proactive, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement and problem solving.

The Fine Print

  • Based in Hobart, with occasional travel and out-of-hours work.
