Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable & Procurement Officer to join our Financial Services team in a permanent, full-time capacity (38 hours per week). This position plays a key role in ensuring the effective management of the School's accounts payable and procurement functions, supporting operational efficiency and compliance.

Reporting to the Business & Systems Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day invoice processing, supplier relations, purchasing systems, and procurement operations in alignment with School policies and strategic objectives.

Key Focus Areas

Accounts Payable:
  • Process and manage end-to-end accounts payable transactions using ProSpend and MYOB Advanced, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Manage purchasing cards, fuel purchase cards and internal recharges within the School and ensure that transactions are reconciled and entered on a timely basis.
  • Assist with vendor setup and maintenance, including accurate and up-to-date master data in the finance system.
  • Support budget holders by coordinating orders, resolving supplier queries, and providing guidance on purchasing procedures.
Procurement:
  • Develop and maintain procurement systems that promote value for money and sustainable purchasing.
  • Assist with implementation and review of procurement policies and guidelines.
  • Build and manage relationships with preferred suppliers.
  • Provide regular procurement support to staff across the School.
  • Identify and implement improvements to procurement and accounts payable processes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Diploma of Accounting or Diploma of Procurement and Contracting.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounts payable and procurement within a complex organisation.
  • Experience with electronic financial systems and procurement platforms.
  • High level of computer literacy (spreadsheets, databases, word processing, email).
  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment category).
  • Current National Police Check.
