Champion the civil construction industry in NSW
The Civil Contractors Federation NSW (CCF NSW) is the peak industry body representing the civil construction sector—an industry that builds and maintains the critical infrastructure that keeps New South Wales moving.
We advocate for fairer regulation, smarter procurement, a stronger workforce, and a safer, more sustainable industry. With over 400 member businesses, CCF NSW gives voice to the sector through high-level engagement with ministers, governments, industry and media.
We seek a Manager – Advocacy & Government Relations to lead strategic advocacy, shape public policy, and influence decision-makers on issues that matter most to our members. A key focus of this role is supporting CCF NSW's new Major Contractors Advisory Group (MCAG) - a high-level forum of leading head contractors driving procurement and policy reform across NSW infrastructure delivery.
This is a rare opportunity for a well-connected professional to make a tangible impact on the future of civil construction and local jobs in NSW.
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and lead policy and advocacy strategies that advance member interests and align with organisational priorities.
· Engage proactively with local and state government-building trusted relationships with ministers, advisers, MPs, agencies, and key stakeholders
· Prepare high-quality submissions, position papers, and briefings on issues such as procurement reform, red-tape reduction, skills, and infrastructure investment.
· Provide strategic and secretariat support to the Major Contractors Advisory Group (MCAG), including developing policy positions, materials, managing monthly meetings, and coordinating follow-up with agencies and ministers.
· Translate MCAG priorities into broader CCF NSW advocacy and communications, ensuring alignment across the membership's policy agenda.
· Represent CCF NSW in stakeholder forums, consultations, industry roundtables and events as required.
· Work closely with the CEO to shape and deliver the organisation's public affairs and government engagement strategy.
· Translate member feedback and industry insights into persuasive, evidence-based advocacy and communications
· Convene member committees and forums to engage members and inform advocacy priorities.
· Support member communications and engagement, ensuring alignment between advocacy efforts, government policy agendas, and industry needs.
What You'll Bring
- Extensive experience in public policy, advocacy, or government relations- ideally in infrastructure, construction, or a peak industry body
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including a track record of influencing ministers, advisors and departmental leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in crafting clear, compelling policy documents and submissions, with follow up.
- Strategic thinking and political acumen, with a deep understanding of and experience with NSW policy and regulatory frameworks
- Confidence presenting to high-level audiences and facilitating briefings or consultations.
- A working knowledge of the civil construction industry, or infrastructure is highly desirable
- A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a small, high-impact team.
Why Work for CCF NSW?
- Work directly with the CEO and board to influence policy at the highest level
- A respected voice in one of NSW's most essential and dynamic industries
