WestCASA is a community-based not-for-profit sexual assault counseling service operating in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne. Our mission is to facilitate the recovery and healing of victim/survivors of sexual assault and work toward eliminating sexual violence in society. We envision a world where everyone lives free from the fear of sexual violence. WestCASA is dedicated to providing support and services that foster empowerment and recovery for individuals impacted by sexual violence.

Role Description

This is a part-time on-site role for a Counsellor Advocate located in the Greater Melbourne Area. The Counsellor Advocate will provide counseling and advocacy services to survivors of sexual assault. Daily tasks will include providing trauma-informed counseling, crisis intervention, support, and referrals for ongoing care. The Counsellor Advocate will also participate in community education and outreach initiatives to raise awareness about sexual violence and available support services.

Qualifications

  • Experience in trauma-informed counseling, crisis intervention, and support
  • Skills in providing advocacy for survivors of sexual assault
  • Ability to participate in community education and outreach initiatives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Relevant qualifications in psychology, social work, or counseling
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit or community services context is a plus
