WestCASA is a community-based not-for-profit sexual assault counseling service operating in the western metropolitan region of Melbourne. WestCASA aims to facilitate the recovery and healing of victims/survivors of sexual assault and work towards eliminating sexual violence in society. Our vision is for a world where everyone lives free from the fear of sexual violence. WestCASA provides a range of support services including counseling, advocacy, and education to achieve this mission.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in the Greater Melbourne Area for a Counsellor Advocate. The Counsellor Advocate will be responsible for providing counseling services to victims/survivors of sexual assault, conducting advocacy on their behalf, and facilitating support groups. The role also involves developing and delivering community education programs, maintaining comprehensive case notes, and collaborating with other services and agencies to provide holistic support to clients.

Qualifications

  • Experience in counseling, particularly with victims/survivors of sexual assault
  • Strong advocacy skills, including the ability to navigate legal and healthcare systems
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver community education programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other services and agencies
  • Commitment to principles of social justice and anti-oppression
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field
  • Relevant professional registration or accreditation is a plus
