The Animal Referral Hospital is a part of Australia's largest well-established group of specialist veterinary hospitals dedicated to providing the best possible care to our patients, our clients, and our staff.  We offer a wide range of specialist services and provide 24-hour emergency and critical care through our facilities in NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, and SA.

ARH Canberra is an around the clock service to the community for their beloved pets. Relocated in November 2021 to a brand-new purpose-built Specialist and Emergency Facility out near the airport, our new state-of-the-art hospital has been designed with one goal: to help you deliver exceptional patient care.

This includes:

  • Full in-house laboratory (CBC, biochemistry, blood gas, coags, SediVue)

  • IDEXX Extended Internal Medicine Specialist Consultation Services (after hours)

  • Advanced imaging: digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, 64-slice CT, and high-field MRI

  • Three surgical suites, ten consult rooms, and a dedicated grieving room

Job Description

The Internship Program

As a Medicine Intern at ARH, you will have the unique opportunity to work alongside our experienced specialists and gain hands-on experience. This intensive internship program will expose you to diverse cases, including emergency medicine, critical care, neurology, surgery, and more.

Under the guidance of our specialists, you will be actively involved in patient care, diagnostics, treatment planning, and client communication. You will have access to our state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced imaging and dedicated surgical suites. Throughout the internship, you will receive mentorship and ongoing support to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge. Journal reviews and the writing of papers will be encouraged and supported as part of further learning.

Qualifications

About You

  • A Veterinary degree registerable in the ACT
  • One year experience post-graduation
  • Passion and self-motivation for continuing education
  • Flexible, adaptable, positive attitude with a focus on teamwork
