This is an initial maternity leave contract until the end of March 2026 and we are open to candidates seeking a part time opportunity. This role will give you the opportunity to be more than just a legal advisor – the successful candidate will proactively seek out ways to improve the legal function and the broader business as Willow scales.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Responsibility for providing and managing legal advice to cross-functional teams. You will work closely with, and report to, the Acting General Counsel.

  • Manage Willow's insurance portfolio.
  • Be flexible and able to prioritise competing priorities under time pressure.
  • Develop maturity to balance business goals with legal risks in line with the business's risk appetite.
  • Translate complex legal issues into succinct and clear advice to enable quick and easy decision making by stakeholders.
  • Additionally, there is potential for involvement in investor relations and future capital raising initiatives, providing a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction and financial growth of the company.
  • Most importantly, can help grow a thriving Australian start-up into a globally recognised market leader.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • 3-5 years PQE and be admitted to practise as a solicitor in Australia with a current practising certificate.
  • Strong experience in a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house business.
  • Experience dealing with commercial/SaaS contracts, intellectual property, and Australian labour law is a bonus (but not essential).
  • Exposure to US commercial/SaaS contracts beneficial
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and sound judgement in managing complex and sensitive matters.

By joining our team of Willowers, we offer true flexible working arrangements, remote and/or hybrid as well as parental leave available for those budding families.

But it is not all about us – it's about you and the world around us. Willowers can dedicate up to 3 days a year to causes they love or level up through our Willow Academy. Psst…we've got your back with cool discounts on shopping and services too.

We at Willow never give up, we work smart, we care about our fellow human beings, and we always put our best foot forward.

At Willow, we're not just looking for the right fit for the job – we're excited to embrace a rainbow of talents and perspectives, fostering a vibrant workplace where all individuals are celebrated and discrimination is left at the door.
