Senior Solicitor - Team Lead - SCALES Family Violence Unit

SCALES is a not for profit incorporated association based in Rockingham providing a range of free legal services for over 28 years to the south coastal metropolitan region.
SCALES partners with Murdoch University to host the Student Law Clinic. Legal services include family law, family, domestic and sexual violence (FDSV), tenancy, criminal, criminal injuries compensation, fines and fines enforcement, traffic matters, humanitarian migration issues and other civil matters.
Other services include a tenancy practice, vulnerable women's service and the multidisciplinary Family Violence Unit (FVU). The FVU is funded by the Commonwealth Government as part of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children
The focus of the FVU is to provide intensive, client centred, trauma informed, culturally safe, legal and non-legal assistance, targeting the most vulnerable and at-risk women affected by FDSV.
You will work with women survivors of FDSV from all walks of life to support them in their recovery journey.
You will lead a small team of like-minded passionate individuals in a professional multidisciplinary team providing legal advice, advocacy, representation, counselling, financial counselling and other support. You will work within the broader leadership team to build and manage new initiatives to provide increased legal access.
You will also have the opportunity to get out into the community to raise awareness of family, domestic and sexual violence and the barriers our clients face every day. There will also be opportunities to influence law and policy through your work.

We are looking for a solicitor with a passion for advocacy, social justice and human rights.

In order to fit the bill, you must understand and be committed to the principles of holistic, client centred, trauma informed and culturally safe legal practice; have strong emotional resilience and excellent interpersonal skills.

Remuneration and benefits
This role is a part time position (30 hours per week).
Remuneration package including salary in the range of $115,000 to $125,000 (pro rata) and employer funded superannuation, plus salary packaging and additional above award benefits including paid leave during Christmas period shutdown, Legal Practise Certificate paid, annual leave loading, CPD training and a flexible workplace. Conditions under the SCHADS Industry Award (MA at Level 7 dependent on experience with a probation period.
