A high-growth firm in Melbourne is looking to establish a branch in Canberra, ACT and seeks the experience and commercial acumen of a Senior Solicitor to help them establish and grow their practice.
You’ll be working predominantly at the Melbourne office, but be expected to travel to the Canberra Office once a month. Travel and accommodation will be covered by the firm.
This role will also provide the opportunity to take on a leadership role working closely with the Principle and providing support to the Canberra Office.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 Years PQE practising as an Australian Solicitor with experience in Civil Litigation
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience in Business Development & readily ability to manage client expectations
- Ability to prioritise and manage many files and project deadlines simultaneously
- Willing to occasionally travel interstate to help build the practice (travel costs paid for)
Responsibilities
- 5-6 billable hours per day
- Liaise with clients, solicitors and barristers, along with Melbourne office staff to help grow the Canberra branch
- Establish and maintain client relationships and expectations through regular and effective communication
- Prepare court documents, correspondence, and briefs to barristers
- Arrange meetings and manage your case files with attention to detail
- Handle matters from start to finish autonomously
- Provide tailored advice to clients to ensure an optimal outcome
- Attend networking events to represent the new branch
- Liaising with Psychological counsellors in the team
