About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Garment Technician to join our team at Thomas Cook Boot and Clothing in Nunawading, VIC. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of garment production, ensuring the highest quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
What you'll be doing
- Providing technical expertise and guidance to the production team to optimise garment construction and quality
- Conducting fit sessions and making adjustments to garment patterns and samples to achieve the desired fit and style
- Troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions to maintain production efficiency
- Developing and documenting technical specifications, care instructions, and other supporting materials for each garment
- Collaborating with the design team to ensure the technical feasibility of new product concepts
- Mentoring and training junior technicians to develop their skills and knowledge
- Monitoring and reporting on key production metrics to identify areas for improvement
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of experience as a Garment Technician or in a similar role within the fashion and textile design industry
- Strong technical knowledge of garment construction, fabric characteristics, and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in pattern making, grading, and marker making using industry-standard software
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
- Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Technology, or a related field is highly desirable
