The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Manager to provide strategic and technical leadership across our engineering and R&D project portfolio. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through prototyping, validation, and commercialisation to successful implementation. This role places a strong emphasis on safety, quality, financial performance, and operational excellence, helping us maintain a reputation as an industry-leading innovator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Governance
  • Lead the Engineering Projects & Innovation team, aligning activities with strategic and operational goals.
  • Contribute to planning and decision-making building a high-performing, future-ready team.
  • Establish structured project governance covering the full lifecycle; prepare and present performance, budget, and technical updates to stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability across engineering activities.

Engineering Project Development & Delivery

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of R&D and engineering projects from concept to commercialisation, ensuring technical integrity, on-time delivery, and budget control.
  • Plan and oversee design, testing, validation, and implementation activities; coordinate cross-functional inputs from Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Commercial.
  • Implement consistent project management and engineering standards to drive predictability, repeatability, and efficiency.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure clear communication, alignment, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure projects achieve defined outcomes in performance, safety, and quality.

Innovation & Technology Commercialisation

  • Foster a culture of innovation; drive applied research and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and develop emerging technologies, materials, and processes to advance our products.
  • Collaborate with group companies, suppliers, and research facilities on joint development and testing.
  • Oversee prototype fabrication, trials, and evaluations aimed at improving operational performance and reducing installation costs.
  • Support IP capture and protection of developed innovations.

Operational, QSE & Risk Management

  • stablish and maintain best-practice project management methodologies.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, and resource allocations; identify and mitigate technical, operational, and commercial risks.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and system utilisation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, legislative, and client requirements.
  • Champion safety, quality, and environmental responsibility across engineering operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions; promote proactive health, safety, and environmental practices.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Experience in engineering project management, product development, or R&D within manufacturing, infrastructure, or industrial environments.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through complex project lifecycles.
  • Strong governance, budgeting, scheduling, and reporting capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficiency with project management software and engineering documentation systems.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Engineering Management, Project Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with digital engineering platforms or innovation management systems.
