Disability Support Worker (Auslan-Fluent) – Community Access | Macquarie Fields/Campbelltown

We're looking for a genuinely fluent Auslan support worker (not a learner or recent grad) to provide 1:1 community access supports for a Deaf adult in the Macquarie Fields/Campbelltown area. This role is in-person, approx 2 hrs/week to start (weekday daytime), with potential for extra hours as goals progress.

What you'll do

  • Provide 1:1 community access and Deaf-aware support in Auslan (appointments, community activities, workplace/communication practice).
  • Support goal work: independence, communication with family/peers, employment readiness, and community participation.
  • Complete brief progress notes and coordinate with NDC and the participant's support team as needed.
  • Light incidental assistance only if required during community time (no complex personal care).

Must-haves (non-negotiable)

  • Fluent Auslan — able to converse naturally at speed in everyday settings. (This role is not suitable for learners or recently certified beginners.)
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Deaf/HoH people and Deaf culture awareness.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) — current/cleared.
  • NDIS Orientation Module ("Quality, Safety and You") — certificate.
  • First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) — current.
  • National Police Check (within last 12 months or willing to obtain).
  • NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC) (or willing to obtain).
  • Reliable, registered, and insured vehicle + valid driver licence.
  • Smartphone for rostering/notes; full work rights in Australia.

Nice to have

  • Cert III/IV Individual Support, Disability or Community Services.
  • Mental Health First Aid; employment support experience; local area knowledge.

Hours & pay

  • ~2 hrs/week to start (weekday daytime; flexible by agreement).
  • Kms reimbursed at NDIS rate when applicable.
