The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.
NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

We are currently looking for a Principal Advisor - Offshore Renewables, Work Health and Safety to develop, support and deliver regulatory implementation in accordance with the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure (OEI) Act 2021 framework. Role:
You will join a Perth or Melbourne based collaborative team working to deliver the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator.
You will lead and contribute to the development of frameworks, policies, processes and procedures to support effective regulation in line with the requirements of the Offshore Electricity Infrastructure Act 2021 (OEI Act) and its regulations.
This position will perform a critical role in establishing and implementing the approach to regulation of work health and safety in the offshore renewable energy sector.
You will bring subject matter expertise in the implementation and administration of laws under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) or similar harmonised WHS framework.
You will also engage and collaborate with internal and external industry and government stakeholders to enable and effectively regulate the emerging offshore renewables sector.
In this role, you will also assist in the coordination and delivery of assessments, inspections and investigations.
About you:
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Experience in implementing, administering and/or regulating WHS frameworks.
Expertise in developing guidance and operating procedures to facilitate regulation of activities.
Well-developed written communication skills.
Ability to lead delivery of high-quality work within short timeframes.
Knowledge of OEI Act and health and safety laws in large scale, complex industries.
Hold tertiary qualifications and/or 5-10 years' experience in government, public policy and administration or the private sector with WHS focus.
