About the Role
We're seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Principal Heritage Native Title Advisor to join our Land Management team on a part-time basis (3 days per week). This role plays a critical part in supporting the respectful, compliant, and effective delivery of Native Title and Cultural Heritage obligations across our land access projects. You'll work closely with Traditional Owner groups, consultants, and government agencies to manage engagement, surveys, approvals, and ongoing relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Native Title Engagement & Compliance
- Lead the implementation of Native Title obligations under Land Access and Heritage Agreements.
- Facilitate and prepare for meetings with Native Title Group (NTG) representatives, including scheduling, documentation, and follow-ups.
- Work with legal teams to interpret agreements and ensure obligations are met accurately and on time.
- Monitor and update an Obligations Register to track compliance and due diligence activities.
- Provide cost forecasts and assist with budgeting for Native Title-related work.
Cultural Heritage Management
- Plan, coordinate, and attend cultural heritage surveys with Traditional Owners, ensuring all activities follow agreed protocols.
- Review and manage the quality of heritage reports to ensure compliance with legal and business standards.
- Liaise with consultants and Traditional Owner groups to define and manage the scope of work for heritage activities.
- Support the development of Cultural Heritage Management Plans and other protocols aligned with project needs and community expectations.
- Ensure all required approvals are obtained and align with both regulatory frameworks and company agreements.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Traditional Owners, Indigenous representative bodies, consultants, and relevant government departments.
- Promote inclusive, two-way communication and support conflict resolution where required.
- Represent the Land Management team in internal and external meetings, contributing expert knowledge and practical solutions.
Internal Collaboration
- Work closely with the Exploration, Study, and Tenement teams to align heritage and land access activities with project goals.
- Provide advice and input across departments on Native Title and heritage-related matters.
Skills & Experience
- 7–10 years' experience in land management, heritage, or Native Title advisory roles, ideally within mining, resources, or infrastructure sectors.
- Tertiary qualifications in Anthropology or Archaeology.
- Strong understanding of Native Title, Cultural Heritage, and Mining legislation in Western Australia.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects, meet deadlines, and work independently.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with experience in compliance tracking, budgeting, and reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable preparing professional documentation and presentations.
