Senior Systems Engineer (Canberra, NV2 clearance – 100% Onsite)
The
Senior Systems Engineer
provides
onsite ICT support and field engineering services
across Canberra-based operations. The role focuses on the
installation, maintenance, and support of end-user computing, networking, and communications infrastructure
within secure environments. It requires a hands-on technical mindset, the ability to work autonomously, and strong stakeholder engagement to ensure dependable ICT service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver
onsite ICT support
and troubleshooting for Canberra-based users and systems. - Install, configure, and maintain
end-user devices, network, and communications systems
. - Support the
installation, configuration, and decommissioning
of systems and infrastructure. - Maintain accurate technical documentation and
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
. - Conduct
incident and problem management
activities following ITIL and SFIA frameworks. - Support
UPS systems
and ensure physical infrastructure is properly maintained. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and
liaise with stakeholders
on technical issues. - Demonstrate initiative and analytical problem-solving for complex or undocumented issues.
- Perform after-hours or weekend work when required for operational continuity.
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrated experience supporting and maintaining
complex ICT systems
. - Proven ability to install and support
desktop and end-user computing hardware/software
. - Hands-on experience with
printer installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
. - Understanding of
UPS systems
and related maintenance. - Familiarity with
physical network and server infrastructure
, including cabling and device setup. - Active NV2 security clearance
(PV clearance desirable).
Desirable Criteria
- Understanding of
logical networking concepts
(DHCP, VLANs, subnetting, routing). - Open Cabling Registration
. - Senior First Aid
certification. - White Card
and safety certifications (e.g., working at heights, confined spaces, asbestos awareness). - Awareness of
Australian Government ICT security and operational standards
.
Qualifications
- ICT or networking qualifications (e.g., Diploma in IT, CompTIA Network+, CCNA) desirable.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel locally as needed.
