Foyer Oxford provides young people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness with fully self-contained transitional housing for up to two years, combined with personalised 24/7 support and opportunities to access education, training and employment.
TheYoung Parents Inclusion Worker, as part of the Foyer Oxford team, will, through a strengths-based community development, integrated and person-centred approach, work to empower young parents and families in their parenting journey. This will include planning, coordinating and delivering individual, group and community engagement activities around childhood development and parenting skills as well as working collaboratively with other local services, stakeholders and networks to meet the parenting needs of Foyer Oxford young parents and families.
This is part time 4 days per week contract until 30 June 2027. There is a requirement to attend regular team meetings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but other days of work (Mon- Fri) are negotiable. Some flexibility may be required to engage effectively with young parents and their children, including occasional evening work.
What you will bring
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Diploma level qualification in Human Services, child development, community development or equivalent.
 - Up to date knowledge of resources and training in the childhood development, parenting skills, specific to young parents.
 - Group facilitation and education skills.
 - Demonstrated commitment to and experience working from strengths based, capacity building and community development principles.
 - Demonstrated networking capability including ability to broker relationships and partnerships and services.
 - Experience and ability to accept, respect and work with young parents:
 - from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities
 - from different cultures, particularly with Aboriginal & CaLD young people
 - from all belief systems.
 - Organisational skills in order to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 - Understanding of youth housing and accommodation systems
 - Providing general case management support to a small number of young parents and actively contributing to assessment, goal planning and collaborative support processes for others.
 
The successful candidate must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year, a current WA Working with Children Check, a WA Drivers Licence and First Aid.
