About the program and role

The Community Support Program (CSP) is a crucial service that compliments Corrections Victoria's specialist case management model. The CSP provides pro-active, practical and individualised assistance that facilitates post-sentence order offender's access to a range of community supports and services that address their multi-faceted needs.

Duties will include:

  • Process client referrals within 2 business days
  • Assist in ensuring allocation within 14 business days
  • Provide timely responses to enquiries from clients and other stakeholders
  • Assist with program data collation and reports to program managers as requested
  • Assist with the transition of clients from custodial or residential settings to the community, and in the development, review and evaluation of support plans, transition and exit plans
  • Liaise with clients, their care teams and internal staff as part of the intake process if required
  • Assess clients' risks and needs, as well as suitability for the program in accordance with the established eligibility criteria
  • Maintain up-to-date intake, allocation and exit data for all clients
  • Complete data entry for all allocated clients on OSCA and internal databases
  • Assist with program delivery as required.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum certificate qualifications and/or experience in criminology, community services or disability/mental health
  • Demonstrated skills in individual record keeping, and gathering and recording of statistics
  • Strong report writing ability
  • Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks, and work with minimum supervision
  • The ability to communicate, work with, and understand the needs of the client group
  • A demonstrated knowledge of the relevant and current legislation relating to the client group
  • A solid understanding of the criminal justice system, particularly the post-sentence order process
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to negotiate, liaise and consult with a wide range of stakeholders, both in government and non-government organisations
