Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy.

Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders' involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.

This is a FIFO role working 3:1 roster based in Karratha, WA.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and organizes subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractor's management staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Role supports on mid-size projects of medium to high complexity with multiple stakeholders' involvement.

Planning

  • Monitors subcontractor construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Reviews subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinates the construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.

Safety / Quality

  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements
  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Technical
  • Supports Construction Field Engineers, Leading Hands, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
  • Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
  • Coordinates with Design on constructability issues.

General Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate tasks and schedule daily scope of work for field EEHA Inspectors, and QA activities
  • Identify and report any non-compliances and co-ordinate with relevant Field Engineers
  • Ensure EEHA Inspectors and QA personnel are supplied with all relevant Australian Standards and Project Specifications
  • Confirm I 99 Inspection documents are accurate and complete prior to FE handover
  • Provide correct tooling, test equipment and resources for personnel
  • Ensure all relevant work permits/isolations in place prior to work commencing
  • Determine whether reworks tasks are executed or transferred to Works To Go
  • Provide measured leadership and consistent direction to field operatives
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience in hazardous areas (e.g., mining, oil & gas, industrial).
  • Proficiency with explosive protection techniques and principles (e.g., Ex e, Ex n, Ex d, Ex i, Ex m, Ex q, Ex o, Ex tD, Ex p).
  • Hands-on experience in inspection of Equipment's ,  Barrier gland and compression cable gland Installed in Hazardous Area  .
  • Strong understanding and Certification of relevant Australian and New Zealand standards, particularly the AS/NZS 60079 series.
  • Experience in Creating and Maintaining Hazardous Area Verification Dossier .
  • Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to a single discipline interfacing with all areas, or in a multi-discipline position assigned to a single area.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
  • Willing to adapt Bechtel's Business Ethics handbook and policies.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.

Working Rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.

Additional Information

This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).

The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site.

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
