Dawsons is a lead engineering provider focused on structural stainless-steel, stainless-steel pressure piping, project management and mining support with our clients predominately from the mining, heavy industry, sugar, government and commercial sectors.

Due to our ever-increasing success, we have casual opportunities with an opportunity to become permanent for experienced Boilermakers to join our fabrication team in our Cairns workshop.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3-5 years of boilermaker trade experience and hold a completed boilermaker trade certificate.

A Certificate III in boilermaking trade is required.

We're seeking tradesmen who can think ahead of the job, you must be able to work autonomously when required and be proactive in your approach to work.

The role is available for an immediate start.

Australian citizenship is required for this position.

· 6 days / week.

· 4 x 9.5 hr days

· Overtime available Fridays and Saturdays.

Candidates will require the following skill sets and attributes to be considered:

  • Fabrication experience
  • Structural Stainless steel
  • Minimum 3-5 years of stainless steel fabrication experience is essential
  • Stainless steel pressure piping
  • Essential requirement for experience with stainless steel pressure piping.
  • Previous heavy industry workshop experience
  • Be able to interpret drawings/plans
  • Attention to detail
  • A commitment to safety
  • Strong work ethic

Duties:

  • studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job

    requirements
  • selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
  • cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting

    torches and metal cutting machines
  • shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools,

    and by heating and hammering
  • aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
  • Stainless steel certified welding qualifications are required.
  • examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
  • finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
  • cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiseling and grinding
