Seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Supervisor / Coordinator to oversee the day-to-day operational requirements for deliveries of palletised freight around Melbourne.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient transport operations. This role involves close coordination with drivers and the customers to deliver on company and customer objectives. You will play a key role in managing fleet allocation, driver supervision, compliance, and customer service while maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily fleet allocation and dispatch, ensuring maximum utilisation of vehicles.
  • Oversee driver management, including recruitment, inductions, training, rostering, and fatigue compliance.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections, tyre checks, servicing coordination, and defect reporting.
  • Monitor and improve DIFOT performance, scheduling efficiency, and compliance with NHVR and customer policies.
  • Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility, Fatigue Management, and Load Restraint legislation.
  • Lead and mentor drivers, ensuring adherence to company policies, PPE, and customer service expectations.
  • Provide operational support, manage incidents/accidents, and complete required reporting and investigations.
  • Liaise with the customer and internal stakeholders to deliver high service levels.

Skills & Experience

  • Ideally a forklift and minimum HR license, however not essential.
  • Proven experience in transport operations, dispatch, or fleet management.
  • Strong knowledge of CoR, Fatigue Management, and NHVR compliance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Energetic, hands-on, and solution-focused with a strong safety mindset.
